    Lee Camp Live

Lee Camp, host of RT America's Redacted Tonight, is an intensely and unabashedly leftish comedian and political analyst. His act combines the penetrating observations of George Carlin with the frenetic style of Bobcat Goldthwait.

    Road Trip to SXSW

South by Southwest Music Festival runs 9-18 March. Harris County Greens have Precinct Conventions on the 13th, County Convention on the 17th. Sunday morning the 18th, we hope to have a caravan going to Austin to help Travis County Greens gather signatures on East 6th Street.

There may be an additional carpool after the County Convention to catch the crowd at Lee Camp's show at Kick Butt Coffee, Music & Booze in Austin (5775 Airport Blvd.) the night of the 17th. Stay tuned for more details.

    Tour de Houston Bicycle Race

This annual set of rides draws cycling enthusiasts from all over the area and beyond. Hermann Square at City Hall will serve as the start and finish lines. The square itself is an excellent place to chat with potential signers.

Taking Metro downtown is strongly recommended, because parking may be difficult and expensive. Theater District parking is reserved for participants in the ride. Park & Ride service does not run on Sundays; if necessary, drive to any MetroRail terminus (Northline, Fannin South, Palm Center, or Magnolia) to catch a train to Central Station.

    In Bloom Music Festival

Pegstar Productions presents yet another music festival on the banks of Buffalo Bayou. This springtime festival's headliners include Beck, Incubus, Broken Social Scene, Queens of the Stone Age, and Explosions in the Sky. Tickets to get in are expensive, but petitioning can be done at the entrance gates (rather than inside, where you'll have to step over people).

    HPJC Benefit with David Rovics

    Here is the Facebook event.

As of this writing (9 February), there is no guarantee that we will have permission to collect signatures. Houston Peace & Justice Center has traditionally had several Green Party members on its board, but it is scrupulously non-partisan. David Rovics and members of the Deconstruction crew are sympathetic to the Green cause.

    Art Car Parade

This year, Houston's largest and most Housterrific annual event runs down Smith Street Saturday 14 April. More than 100,000 Art Car fans will likely turn out for the parade.

This is an above-average event for signature-gathering. Get there early to catch people finding there vantage points, or in line at the food trucks, rather than distracting them from the parade. There should be chances to find signers after the parade as well.
